In what is coming as massive news, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are all set to undergo elections for the upcoming BCCI president. The interesting development, however, is that many former Indian cricketers are in a race to replace Roger Binny for the top post, as names have been doing the rounds on social media.
Kiran More Strong Candidate To Replace Binny
According to a report in The Telegraph India, former Indian cricketer Kiran More's name is likely to be added to the list; however, he has not been nominated by any of the state associations so far, but considering the fact that he receives the backing of the current Indian government in power, he can still be included as the list which can be altered till Friday.
Following this, he can be reckoned for the top post, as he will also get a massive boost from the backing of the top brass in the government.
Two more names that are doing the rounds are those of former spinner Raghuram Bhat and Jaydev Shah, the former Saurashtra captain, who are both expected to be in the fray for this top post.
Sourav Ganguly To Be Back As President?
More so, another big name that is expected to feature on this list is the name of former BCCI president Sourav Ganguly, who, according to reports, is the best-suited candidate, but will be challenged by former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh.
Interestingly, Sourav, who was the president until 2022, was sacked by the former apex body chief, N. Srinivasan, who played a massive role in ensuring that Sourav didn't remain in the post after a meeting was held at the minister's residence.
It now depends on the meeting if Ganguly can make his way back into the BCCI, which he held for quite some time, and reclaim his position.
Furthermore, there have been reports indicating that Home Minister Amit Shah will chair the meeting, scheduled to take place at his residence in Delhi on September 28. Whether Ganguly will be attending the meeting is a matter of speculation and can only be confirmed after the meeting is held.
