Bangladesh dashed Sri Lanka in the opening match of the Super Four stage of the 2025 Asia Cup. After senior fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman sent down a tight four-over spell, Saif Hassan and Towhid Hridoy masterminded a clinical run-chase with cracking half-centuries.

Here, we take a look at the entire highlights of the 13th match of the Men’s T20 Asia Cup 2025 between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, as it panned out at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai on Saturday, September 20.

Dasun Shanaka Smacks 64* But Mustafizur Tightens Up With Three

Sri Lanka started off with a 44-run opening partnership between Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis in just five overs. However, Sri Lanka squandered away their rollicking start, with both openers falling in quick succession to Taskin Ahmed and Mahedi Hasan. Mahedi also cleaned up Kamil Mishara as Sri Lanka slipped from 44-0 to 65-3 around the halfway stage of the innings.

Dasun Shanaka at number five smeared 64 unbeaten runs off just 37 balls with three fours and six huge sixes, while captain Charith Asalanka chipped in with a fiery 12-ball 21 as Sri Lanka carted a competitive 168-7 in 20 overs. For Bangladesh, senior fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman picked up three wickets, all during the backend of the innings, at an expense of just 20 runs.

Saif Hassan, Towhid Hridoy Win It For Bangladesh

Bangladesh lost opener Tanzid Hasan for a two-ball duck to Sri Lanka fast bowler Nuwan Thushara in the first over of the run-chase. Captain Litton Das at number three elevated his team to some extent with a 59-run partnership with opener Saif Hasan, with the former chipping in with 23 runs off 21 balls before getting trapped by Sri Lanka’s enigma machine Wanindu Hasaranga.

Saif went on to top-score in the innings through his sublime knock of 61 off 45 deliveries with four huge sixes and two fours. Towhid Hridoy at number four also cracked a sizzling 37-ball 58 to take Bangladesh towards the brink of a comprehensive win. However, some late wickets for Dushmantha Chameera (1-32) and Dasun Shanaka (2-21) and a tight spell from Wanindu Hasaranga (2-22) kept Sri Lanka in the hunt until the final over, before Shamim Hossain (14* off 12) and Nasum Ahmed eventually notched up the winning runs for Bangladesh with four wickets and a ball to spare.
