Indian cricket fans will have to wait a little longer before they see Rishabh Pant back on the field. The star wicketkeeper-batsman, who injured himself during the England tour, will reportedly not be part of the upcoming Test series against the West Indies.

Pant injured his foot during the fourth Test against England and has been nursing a fracture ever since. He reached the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru on September 15, where he underwent a detailed medical examination. Since then, the wicketkeeper has officially begun his rehabilitation program.

Rishabh Pant To Return In November

According to Dainik Jagran, Rishabh Pant has been using walking boots to support his injured area and speed up bone healing. Reports suggest that he could be released from the boots within a week, and once that happens, he will slowly start putting more weight on his legs.

The recovery process has reportedly shown positive signs, and the physio team is said to be satisfied with his progress. Once his legs can handle more pressure, the intensity of his training will increase.

Pant’s return is very important for India because his fearless batting and sharp wicketkeeping skills give the team the balance it needs in all formats.

If all goes well, Rishabh Pant could make his comeback during the South Africa series at home in November. However, his participation in the upcoming ODI and T20I series against Australia, which begins on October 19, remains uncertain.

The good news is that experts now believe Pant could be fit enough to play competitive cricket in just 3 to 4 weeks, slightly earlier than first expected.

The Indian team management is keeping a close watch on his recovery and will make a final call before the home season gets busier.

Dhruv Jurel Likely To Replace Rishabh Pant

With Rishabh Pant unlikely to be available for the West Indies Test series scheduled at home, India will most likely turn to Dhruv Jurel.

The youngster recently scored a brilliant 140 off 197 balls with 13 fours and 4 sixes in the first unofficial Test against Australia A. Jurel shared a massive 228-run stand with Devdutt Padikkal, helping India A post 531/7 declared in reply to Australia A’s 532/6 declared.
