Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav has reportedly been fined 30% of his match fees for making political comments after the India-Pakistan Asia Cup 2025 game held on September 14.
Yadav dedicated India’s 7-wicket victory to the Pahalgam terrorist attack victims and the Indian armed forces for their bravery during Operation Sindoor. However, PCB took objection and filed a complaint with ICC.

Upon PCB’s complaint, ICC match referee Richie Richardson held a hearing on September 26, where Suryakumar Yadav reportedly pleaded not guilty to charges.
However, Richardson rejected his plea and found him guilty of breach of the ICC’s level 1 code of conduct. As a result, Suryakumar has reportedly been fined 30% of his match fees.
Not only that, but Haris Rauf is also likely to face a 30% match fee fine after the BCCI objected to his ‘6-0’ gesture on the field during the India vs Pakistan Super Four clash held on September 21.
As reports surfaced on social media, fans had a mixed reaction. While some called it a forced act of neutrality by the ICC, many fans sided with Suryakumar Yadav, judging him innocent.

That being said, as per media reports, BCCI is likely to challenge ICC’s guilty verdict on Suryakumar Yadav. While the captain was also speculated to receive a demerit point, the ICC is yet to confirm these conjectures.
