India make 2 changes, Sri Lanka bring Liyanage into XI
Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav confirmed two changes in the playing XI of the Men in Blue. While Jasprit Bumrah makes way for Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana comes in for Shivam Dube. On the other hand, the Lankans have brought in Janith Liyanage, dropping Chamika Karunaratne, who had a forgettable game against Pakistan.
While he has been a regular member of Sri Lanka's ODI setup, Janith Liyanage hasn't had a great T20I career, managing only 11 runs across three matches. Apart from contributing crucial runs to the total, Liyanage can chip in with a few overs of medium pace.
IND vs SL toss update: Captains' thoughts
"We are going to bowl first. We can't qualify for the final but still it's an important game for us. It is a good pitch, we want to score around 170/175. The batters have been doing really well, especially our openers. We want them to continue. We need the entire order to fire," Asalanka said as quoted by CREX.
"I think we want to just continue what we have been doing. We have both thrice and we've batted first twice. We actually wanted to bat first today. We are happy with it. Good atmosphere, good games going around, just go on with it. (On taking catches) I think it's part of the game. It's happens. Until and unless you want it to come to you, I think it will make the difference in the tournament," Suryakumar Yadav stated.
