India and Sri Lanka are all set to clash in the final group stage match of the Asia Cup 2025. Sri Lanka have won the toss and have decided to field first which means that Indian batters will get a chance to express themselves early in the game.
Also, India have made two changes to their playing XI. Jasprit Bumrah and Shivam Dube are not playing and India are going with two frontline seamers, Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh.
Bumrah rested for dead-rubber against Sri Lanka
As far as Bumrah's omission is concerned, he has been rested, keeping in mind the final on Sunday against Pakistan. India has already qualified for the final, and the match against Sri Lanka is just a dead-rubber, which has given the team management an opportunity to rest their star bowler. The cricketer has been injury-prone, and the Indian team management has taken a cautious route to keep him available for as many important games as possible.
Previously, Jasprit Bumrah was also rested for the clash against Oman, and he is likely to be back for the final against Pakistan. Also, Shivam Dube has been left out, with management trying to test out a different combination before the final. It also gives a much-needed game time to Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana.
Arshdeep Singh has been a consistent performer for India in T20Is, but has not been able to find a regular place in this Asia Cup due to India's strategy of going with only one genuine pacer. Thus, Jasprit Bumrah getting rested is a win-win situation for India as it would help him stay fresh for the final and would provide an opportunity for other seamers to showcase their talent before the Pakistan game.
