In a startling revelation, former Pakistan chief selector Mohammad Wasim shared his orderly on dealing with 'stubborn' captain Babar Azam and claimed how the latter was extremely resistant to change, leading to friction.

Pakistan white ball captain Babar Azam has been under intense scrutiny following Pakistan's early exit from the 2024 T20 World Cup. Once deemed a modern-day great, Azam is now struggling to stay relevant in international cricket.

While his form as a batter is on a steep decline, Babar Azam's captaincy standards have also been called out after the men in green were knocked out from the group stages of two ICC tournaments back to back.

That being said, as Babar Azam struggles to retain his white ball captaincy, former chief selector for the men's team, Mohammad Wasim, exposed flaws in Babar's leadership.

“It was painful to make him understand the advantages of changes. He was very stubborn, and I overstepped my limitations to get him on board with certain calls. He was not ready to accept changes,” Wasim said.

Wasim revealed that Babar Azam is stubborn as a captain and often resisted changes suggested by the selection committee. Mohammad Wasim had to overstep his boundaries to convince Azam into getting on board with the new plans.

The unpleasant experience was painful for Wasim as Babar Azam, as a captain, was difficult to deal with.

Ex-PAK Selector Exposes Imad Wasim's Lies On Injuries

Mohammad Wasim also exposed veteran all-rounder Imad Wasim for hiding his knee injury during the T20 World Cup.

He revealed that Imad was initially dropped from the side due to fitness issues, and for him to call out Azam Khan's fitness standards is pure hypocrisy.

“Imad has a knee injury, but he has been hiding it for years. We always speak about Azam Khan’s fitness levels, but Imad is also suffering from the same problem. He was dropped from the side for that same reason, and I also dropped him during my tenure so that he could work on his fitness,” Wasim said.

Additionally, Mohammad Wasim, without taking any names, added that his selection committee identified a few players who were 'cancer' for the team and demanded immediate exclusion. But their report was dismissed.
