Bangladesh marched on to yet another victory at the Rawalpindi Stadium to seal their two-match Test series against Pakistan by a 2-0 margin.

Here’s the timeline of how PAK vs BAN 2nd Test panned out in Rawalpindi:

PAK vs BAN 2nd Test Highlights: Mehidy Hasan Miraz Envelops PAK On Opening Day

Being invited to bat first, hosts Pakistan lost opener Abdullah Shafique to Taskin Ahmed for a six-ball duck early in the innings. Saim Ayub and captain Shan Masood led Pakistan’s rescue act with identical half-centuries to take them past the 100-run mark.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz tilted the tide back in Bangladesh’s favour with the wickets of both half-centurions, before Shakib Al Hasan disallowed Babar Azam from settling at the crease. Salman Agha made 54 at number seven but 274 was all Pakistan could manage in their first innings. Miraz seized three of Pakistan’s final four wickets to bag figures of 5-61.

PAK vs BAN 2nd Test Highlights: Litton Das Minimizes PAK Lead With Stunning 138

Up against Pakistan’s first innings total of 274, Bangladesh slipped to 26-6 within the opening hour of Day 3. Fast bowler Khurram Shahzad snared four of those wickets, including the prized scalps of Shakib Al Hasan and Najmul Hossain Shanto while Mir Hamza dismissed Mominul Haque and Mushfiqur Rahim with the new-ball.

Middle-order batters Litton Das and Mehidy Hasan Miraz orchestrated Bangladesh’s miraculous recovery with a 165-run defiance for the seventh wicket. Miraz punched out 78 runs in the partnership from 124 balls and had brought Bangladesh’s deficit to within 100 runs by the time of his departure. Das marched on and cracked an imperial Test century, and finished with 138 runs to minimize Pakistan lead to 12 runs.

Khurram Shahzad sealed figures of 6-90 in the innings while Mir Hamza and Salman Agha chipped in with two wickets each to bowl out the visitors for 262.

PAK vs BAN 2nd Test Highlights: Hasan Mahmud, Nahid Rana Set Up BAN Advantage

Pakistan’s 12-run advantage made little-to-no difference to their second innings cause as they were bowled out for just 172 before stumps on Day 4. Bangladesh’s new-ball fast bowler Hasan Mahmud dismissed Abdullah Shafique and Khurram Shahzad within the first four overs before mopping up the tail to bag figures of 5-43 from 10.4 overs.

Mahmud’s pace mate Nahid Rana himself accounted for four Pakistani wickets, including that of captain Shan Masood and legendary Babar Azam to collect career-best 4-44 from 11 overs. For Pakistan, Mohammad Rizwan and Salman Agha top-scored with valiant 40s to set Bangladesh a 185-run target for the decisive innings.

PAK vs BAN 2nd Test Highlights: BAN Stand Tall In Series-Sealing Chase

Left to fend 185 runs, Bangladesh romped to victory with six wickets and a session-and-a-half to spare on Day 5. Each of their top four batters shaped valuable contributions, with captain Najmul Hossain Shanto top-scoring in the innings with 38 runs from 82 balls.

Zakir Hasan (40 off 39) and Shadman Islam (24 off 51) shared a 58-run opening stand to set up the chase before Mominul Haque scored a cautious 34 at number four. Senior men Mushfiqur Rahim and Shakib Al Hasan fend off the remaining runs after forming forces at 153-4 to script a historic series victory for Bangladesh.
