While fans await India’s Asia Cup 2025 squad announcement, the BCCI is reportedly prioritising the Indian Women’s team. According to reports, the board will hold a press conference to unveil India’s squad for the ICC Women’s World Cup, given the weather relents in the city of Mumbai.

Buzz around India’s Asia Cup squad has been raging like wildfire with each passing day. Fans and critics are constantly speculating on whether the selection committee will include seniors or back a young team under the leadership of Suryakumar Yadav.

BCCI To Prioritise Indian Women’s Team

Earlier, TOI reported that the BCCI will unveil India’s squad for the Asia Cup 2025 through a media release and not a press conference. The selection committee is set to meet on August 19 to conduct a discussion.

However, according to Gaurav Gupta of the TOI, a press conference is still in BCCI’s plans, but not for the Asia Cup. The board will reportedly invite the press to their headquarters in Mumbai to release the Indian Women’s squad for the upcoming ICC Women’s World Cup scheduled in September.

That being said, it's important to note that adverse weather in Mumbai might hinder BCCI’s plans. On Monday, the city witnessed incessant rainfall, forcing the government to shut down schools and issue a red alert.

For Tuesday, August 19, the state has advised people to stay indoors and expect heavy rainfall to continue battering the city. Hence, if the rain refuses to relent, the BCCI might have to cancel the plan to hold a press conference.

Indian Women’s Team Wrap Up For Training Camp

The Indian women's cricket team concluded a gruelling 10-day training camp at the BCCI Centre of Excellence as preparations are on for the 2025 ODI World Cup, beginning September 30.

Under the leadership of Harmanpreet Kaur and guided by Amol Muzumdar, the team focused on strength training, match simulations, and skill-based exercises to hone fitness and performance.

Notably, India's first challenge is a three-match ODI series against Australia from September 14, with matches to be played in New Chandigarh and New Delhi.
