Indian cricket's past and present icons gathered in Mumbai to mark 50 days until the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025, signalling the return of elite women's cricket to the subcontinent after nine years. 

The star-studded event saw legends Mithali Raj and Yuvraj Singh share the stage with current captains Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues. While the event was marked by the star power, Harmanpreet Kaur's revelation about her cricket role models and inspiration, Yuvraj Singh won hearts.

Harmanpreet Kaur Reveals Her 'Motivation'

Speaking of her inspiration, Harmanpreet Kaur minced no words while praising Yuvraj Singh's influence on her.

"We want to break that barrier which all Indians are waiting for. World Cups are always special, always want to do special for my country. Whenever I see Yuvi bhaiya (Yuvraj Singh) it gives me a lot of motivation," Harmanpreet said at the ceremony.

In reference to the ODI series against Australia, the Indian captain emphasized the importance of this competition, stating that it serves as a valuable opportunity to assess the team's current performance and capabilities.

"Playing against Australia is always challenging and we get to know what is our standing. The series (three ODIs vs Australia) will give us a lot of confidence. We have been putting a lot of effort in our training camps and the results are showing," said Harmanpreet.

Yuvraj Singh Gives Special Tip To Women's Cricket Team

Meanwhile, the World Cup winner Yuvraj Singh shared his words of advice for the Women in Blue who will delve into the challenge a few months later.

"It’s a great opportunity to create history. But that doesn’t mean that from the start point you are thinking of winning it. You have to experience the whole enigma of it. You have to feel that you have put in the process and results will come," Yuvraj said.

Notably, the event launched the ICC Trophy Tour, beginning in Mumbai before visiting all host cities, including Delhi. A special school outreach program will give students across host cities the chance to engage with the tournament, with select schools receiving match tickets.

The 50-over spectacle runs from September 30 to November 2, kicking off with India vs Sri Lanka in Bengaluru. With preparations in full swing and cricket's biggest names lending their support, the stage is set for a watershed moment in women's sports.
