Riding on Abdul Samad's blistering century and a stunning spell from Maaz Sadaqat, Pakistan Shaheens crushed Melbourne Renegades by 73 runs in the 15th league-stage match of the Top End T20 tournament. After posting a respectable 178-run total, the Shaheens bowled Melbourne out for 105 runs, securing an emphatic victory in the competition.

Abdul Samad's Ton Ensures A Defendable Total For Shaheens

After winning the toss, Melbourne Renegades opted to bowl first in the high-voltage encounter against Pakistan Shaheens. The home team had a dream start with the ball, as Fergus O'Neill and Will Sutherland got the prized scalps of Yasir Khan and Khawaja Nafay for embarrassing ducks.

However, Abdul Samad's promotion to number three worked wonders for the Shaheens, with the right-hander rescuing them from the precarious position with a blistering knock. He hammered six boundaries and as many sixes for his 63-ball unbeaten 110*, powering the Shaheens to 178 in 20 overs despite early hiccups.

Sadaqat, Faisal Akram Run Riot As Renegades Suffer Humiliating Defeat

Chasing 179, Melbourne Renegades instantly got going, with Josh Brown playing a couple of delightful shots. However, the swashbuckling right-hander gradually ran out of partners, as Maaz Sadaqat and Faisal Akram removed their key players with a disciplined bowling effort.

The Renegades were so miserable that none of their specialised batters, apart from Brown, breached the double-digit mark. Callum Stow, Xavier Crone and Michael Archer contributed handy cameos; however, those knocks could only reduce the margin of defeat.

Eventually, the Renegades were bundled out for 105 runs, with Sadaqat and Akram scalping three and two wickets, respectively.

The Shaheens' clinical win helped them add two crucial points to their tally. Currently, they are placed second in the standings with four points and will face Chicago Kingsmen in the 17th match of the competition.
