On Monday, November 25, the much-awaited IPL 2025 mega auction came to an end, with every franchise completing the minimum requirement for their squads. Talking about Delhi Capitals, they did a great job at the auction table and have a squad of 23 players, buying 19 players in the two-day event. 

DC almost burnt their 73 crores purse value and were left with just 20 lakh ended their auction early, and couldn't complete the 25-member squad. However, the Capitals bought a few great players and too in what can be termed a steal.

1. Mitchell Starc- 11.75 Crores

Starc's skillset needs no introduction. He was the highest-paid player in IPL 2024 when KKR bought him for 23.75 crores. He had a decent season and was pretty expensive which resulted in a massive dip in his IPL salary. 

However, he returned to the cash-studded league after a long hiatus and took time to adapt to the tournament. As the competition progressed, Starc's numbers only got better and was one of the best performers in the finals.

Thus, Delhi capitalised on that while the other franchise backed out, fearing a replica of the IPL 2024 season and bought him for just 11.75 crores, which is a steal for a quality seamer like Starc. 

2. KL Rahul

Getting KL Rahul for just 14 crores is something one would have shrugged off with a smile before the auction. However, it became a reality when Delhi bought the ex-LSG skipper for 14 cr, a dip from his earlier salaries. 

Rahul was expected to go beyond 20 crores and it is beyond one's understanding how he couldn't. Nonetheless, if the strike rate was one such issue, then DC fans need not worry as Rahul, in all likeliness, will shine at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, which is a smaller venue and a batting paradise. 

Further, Rahul can keep, bat, and also lead the side that makes his buy at 14 cr a steal. Further, Rahul would also add a lot to Capitals' brand value. 

3 . Ashutosh Sharma

Another surprise and underrated pick for Delhi that would make it to the list of their best buys is Ashutosh Sharma. The 26-year-old rose to the limelight in IPL 2024 after he smashed 189 runs. Stats won't do justice to his talent as he does the finishers' role and was bought for just 3.80 crores.
