The 2025 mega auction is in full swing in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The 12 marquee players, who were divided into two sets, have been sold out. It is worth noting that the ten franchises splurged 180.5 crores for marquee players.
Rishabh Pant saw a massive hike and broke Mitchell Starc's record to become the most expensive player as LSG bought him for a whopping 27 crores. While several players saw a massive boost in their IPL value, a few players suffered a massive dip in their salary in the IPL 2025 mega auction.
This article will shed light on the three players with the biggest dip in their IPL salary.
1. Mitchell Starc - 52.5% Dip
It is worth noting that Starc was the highest-paid player in IPL 2024 after KKR bought him for 24.75 crores. However, Delhi Capitals bought the left-arm Australian seamer for just 11.75 crores in the ongoing auction in Jeddah.
Starc had a decent tournament with KKR in IPL 2024 and that has led to his dip in salary. It is worth noting that he has suffered a dip of 52.5%. If we calculate, he saw a dip of 13 crores (24.75-11.75), which results to 52.5%.
2. Liam Livingstone - 23.91% Dip
Ahead of the IPL 2025 mega-auction, Liam Livingstone was released by Punjab Kings. Notably, Livingstone was earning 11.50 crores with PBKS, but RCB bought him for 8.75 crores.
Notably, Liam has suffered a dip of 2.75 crores in his salary because of his fitness issues that were exploited in IPL 2024. If we calculate, he saw a dip of 2.75 crores (11.75- 8.75), which results to 23.91%.
3. KL Rahul - 17.6% Dip
KL Rahul's IPL 2025 mega auction value came as a shock for everyone as everyone expected him to go around 20-25 crores, similar to Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer.
However, DC bought KL Rahul for just 14 crores. It is less than what he earned at LSG, which was 17 crores. It is a dip of 17.6%. If we calculate, he saw a dip of 3 crores (17- 14), which results to 17.6%.
