In a significant development, Australia's premier fast bowler Mitchell Starc has been sold to Delhi Capitals in the ongoing IPL 2025 mega auction. The premier fast bowler was one of the marquee players and went under the hammer as the fifth player on the first day of the bidding process. 

Mitchell Starc has been a force to reckon with the ball for Australia across formats. He joined Kolkata Knight Riders ahead of IPL 2024 as the costliest player ever in the tournament's history. The legendary left-arm pacer played a vital role for KKR, powering them to the IPL 2024 title with his exceptional performance in the knockouts. However, his price tag was a bit too high, as the Knight Riders decided to part ways with him before the 2025 auction.

DC Defeat RCB In A Bidding War To Get Mitchell Starc

As the auctioneer announced Starc's name, MI began the proceedings with an opening bid of 2 Crores. They were involved in an intense bidding war with KKR before DC and RCB joined them. However, Delhi Capitals had the last laugh, with the veteran speedster joining them for a whopping amount of 11.75 Crores.

A tall seamer who can swing the ball both ways at a rapid pace, Mitchell Starc was launched by RCB in the Indian Premier League. However, the left-arm pacer skipped many IPL seasons, citing his commitment for the national side as the reason. He made his much-awaited comeback with a triumphant stint with KKR this year and his inclusion in DC will certainly boost the franchise's bowling department in the 2025 season.
