The IPL 2025 auction is done and dusted and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) were in spotlight as the side built an interesting team, but had some stinkers on the auction day. They bought some quality players in the team, but at the same time, the team let go off some brilliant players as well.
For the first time in many years, the RCB management have focused on building a complete team with focus on every department. Earlier, the team used to focus on big names while ignoring the loopholes. However, this time around, they have invested smartly, and had some shrewd buys as well.
In this article, we look at 3 of the best buys for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL 2025 mega auction.
RCB Full Squad 2025
Virat Kohli, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Krunal Pandya, Rajat Patidar, Yash Dayal, Liam Livingstone, Phil Salt, Jitesh Sharma, Josh Hazlewood, Rasikh Dar, Swapnil Singh, Tim David, Romario Shepherd, Manoj Bhandage, Jacob Bethell, Devdutt Padikkal, Swastik Chhikara, Lungi Ngidi, Abhinandan Singh, Mohit Rathee, and Suyash Sharma, Nuwan Thushara.
RCB 3 Best buys in IPL auction
3) Nuwan Thushara
- RCB have found their bowler for slog overs. Thushara is known as the Malinga regen and he can be the solution to RCB's death bowling woes which they have faced for the last couple of years. His pinpoint yorkers will be difficult to hit on any stadium.
- Thushara has an excellent T20I record for Sri Lanka, having picked up 24 wickets in 15 matches, and most of them have come in the death overs. He could be the difference maker between a title challenging RCB side and a playoff reaching team.
2) Jacob Bathell
- Perhaps the most underrated buy of the RCB team, not many people know about Bathell, but he is an aggressive batter who can play freely and score runs at a quick rate. Recently he showed his prowess in the series against West Indies and looks a good prospect for just 2.60 crore.
- RCB had a right-handed heavy batting lineup and Bethell breaks that monopoly. He is a left-handed batter and is also comfortable against spin, something which their other batters lack. He could be ahead of Tim David in the pecking order.
1) Phil Salt
- With Dinesh Karthik retiring, RCB have found their keeper. Salt can play the role of Chris Gayle and could be the aggressor right from the word go. Virat Kohli generally takes time to settle in, and hence, Salt can be the one to take pressure off him by utilising the power-play.
- A steal deal at just 11.50 crore. While other keepers like Rishabh Pant and even KL Rahul have gone big, Salt has been snatched for just 11.50 crore and his destructive batying will be quite useful at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
