KL Rahul was dropped in the 2nd Test vs NZ (Source:@the_upadhyayji/X.com)
The stage is set for the third and final Test of what has been a superb series for the visitors, New Zealand. They have sealed the series with one final game to go, and would be looking to create history by whitewashing India at the Wankhede Stadium. The home team, on the other hand, would be looking to make a statement after horrid performances in the initial two Tests and it would be interesting to see how they approach this Test.
The team combination would be again in focus as it is likely to be a turning track again. It will be a red-soil pitch and the bowlers are likely to get good bounce and there would be fast turn on this pitch. India went with three spinners, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravi Ashwin and Washington Sundar in the Pune Test and they are likely to go with the same trio even though Axar Patel can be handy at Wankhede.
Sarfaraz's Form Likely To Keep Rahul Out Of XI
Sundar bagged 11 wickets in the last Test and is a quality batter too, so he is likely to keep Axar Patel out. However, the big news is that Jasprit Bumrah will be rested in this Test, keeping in mind his workload ahead of an important Test series against Australia. His absence has opened the doors for Mohammed Siraj again and he would be accompanying Akash Deep in the pace department. On the batting front, KL Rahul is warm the benches again as Sarfaraz has been in good form and he is likely to be backed for the final Test as well.
Team management though would be hoping that their batters show better technique against spin, and come out with the goods that are expected from them in the home conditions.
