In a significant development, the Indian management are likely to bench Jasprit Bumrah for the third and final Test of the New Zealand series to give adequate rest to the MI star before the crucial Australia tour.
Notably, India will face New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on November 1. It is a dead rubber match as the Kiwis have won the first two matches comfortably. Thus, India would look to rest Bumrah as they are set to fly to Australia on November 10.
The Rohit Sharma-led side will face the defending WTC champions for a five-match Test series starting on November 22. Thus, Bumrah is India's best bowler, and they would want him to play against Australia with full fitness.
Citing a source, the Indian Express reported that Bumrah will be out of the third Test at Wankhded Stadium. Thus, it is likely that Mohammed Siraj, who missed out on the second Test, might replace Bumrah for the 3rd Test.
Harshit Rana Trains With India Ahead Of 3rd Test
Earlier, there were rumours that India have called up Harshit Rana for the 3rd Test. Notably, Harshit was part of India's squad for New Zealand Tests as a travelling reserve, but he ewas released from the squad to play Ranji Trophy.
A couple of days ago, India's assistant coach, Abhishek Nayar refuted such claims and remarked that there has been no new addition. Nonetheless, Rana is with the team in Mumbai and a few visuals flouted on the internet showing him bowling to Shubman Gill in the nets.
Bumrah Loses World No.1 Spot To Kagiso Rabada
Bumrah, who clinched the No.1 spot in ICC Test bowlers' rankings after heroics against Bangladesh, has been dethroned by Kagiso Rabada, who is breathing fire against Bangladesh. Rabada has claimed two consecutive fifers.
Talking about Bumrah, he has had a dismal series so far and has taken just three wickets in two matches.
