Mumbai Indians are one of the most high-profile teams in the IPL and have won the title five times. The 2024 season did not go well for them after they replaced Rohit Sharma with Hardik Pandya as their skipper. However, they still had quality players in their ranks who are worthy of getting retained ahead of mega auction for IPL 2025.

Their five retentions are likely to be Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah and Tilak Varma while there is still doubt over the uncapped player. Earlier, Cricbuzz stated that Naman Dhir would be retained as an uncapped player, however, the same organisation has now revealed that MI might go for either Anshul Kamboj or Piyush Chawla.

Piyush Chawla And Anshul Kamboj Emerge As Options For MI

Piyush Chawla's last international match was way back in 2012, so he he is qualified to be retained as an uncapped player according to a new rule. He did well for MI in the last couple of seasons and having him at 4 Crore could help the franchise. Anshul Kamboj, on the other hand, has played just three matches for Mumbai Indians but has an impressive domestic record. A quality Indian pacer is always a highly-demanded player in the auction and MI are pondering on retaining the young talent given his recent performances.

Naman Dhir, on the other hand, was a regular for Mumbai Indians in the last season and is a powerful hitter of the ball. He is handy with his medium pace as well and could be a good long term-option. There is an option of Akash Madhwal as well, who has done quite well in the past and is known to be a death-over specialist.

So, MI have lot of options at their disposal, and it would be hard task for them to leave out any of those four players.
