Chennai Super Kings, the five-time IPL champions are likely to take some bold decisions for the upcoming edition of the IPL. The likes of Ruturaj Gaikwad, MS Dhoni and Matheesha Pathirana are their confirmed retentions, but there is doubt over Ravindra Jadeja's retention and the franchise might use RTM for the all-rounder according to a report from Indian Express.
According to the report, CSK are keen to to bring Rishabh Pant in their camp as he is all set to leave DC after differences with the GMR group. He is likely to go at a heavy price in the auction, so CSK are preparing themselves accordingly and are keeping their purse ready for the wicketkeeper batter. The decision means that they would not get the luxury of retaining their other star players and the franchise seems convinced that RTM is a best option to retain Ravindra Jadeja.
Dhoni-Factor Likely To Help Ravindra Jadeja
However, if both Jadeja and Pant's price gets inflated in the mega auction, the franchise might have to let go Ravindra Jadeja, the all-rounder who has played a big role in their success for more than a decade. Ravindra Jadeja has recently retired from T20Is and his numbers in the shortest format, especially with the bat have dwindled quite a lot. The franchise though is known to give importance to loyalty and with Dhoni a key member of strategising future plan, Jadeja might well find himself again in the Yellove Army.
The franchise's main focus though is to bring Pant onboard as a like-for-like replacement of MS Dhoni who is at the twilight of his career. Rishabh Pant is a growing brand, just like Dhoni was in the inaugrual edition of the IPL and has the potential to lead the franchise which makes him a hot asset.
