Rajasthan Royals, the winner of the inaugural edition of the IPL are all set to retain three capped players before the auction - Sanju Samson, Riyan Parag and Yashasvi Jaiswal. Sandeep Sharma is set to be their uncapped retention while they are likely to use Right to Match card (RTM) for their experienced players, Jos Buttler and Yuzvendra Chahal according to a report from Indian Express.
Earlier, there were reports that RR would leave out Jos Buttler and Yuzvendra Chahal, but the new development seem to be taking the franchise in a different direction. There is no certainty over the future of Dhruv Jurel though who recently made impression in Indian whites and also did well for RR in the last couple of seasons.
Rajasthan Royals Likely To Leave Shimron Hetmyer
Rajasthan Royals were pretty successful in the last IPL cycle and had a good mixture of Indian and overseas stars. They made it to the final of the 2022 season, narrowly missed the playoff place in the 2023 season and played Qualifier 2 in the 2024 season. Now, as Buttler is likely to be their only overseas retention, Shimron Hetmyer would miss out, a player who was a key figure in their batting department.
RR have also brought in India's T20 World Cup wining duo of Rahul Dravid and Vikram Rathour as Head Coach and Batting coach. Their skipper Sanju Samson has also grown in stature in world cricket in recent times and they would be hoping to end their trophy drought and lift their second title in the 2025 season.
