Delhi Capitals' budding star Jake Fraser McGurk is struggling to score runs as the right-hand batter is having a horrendous run in the ongoing BBL 2024-25 season. Notably, the Capitals bought back McGurk for a whopping 11 crores at the IPL 2025 mega-auction after his heroics in IPL 2024.

However, since his show in the cash-studded league, McGurk has featured for Australia in several series but has scored just one fifty-plus score. Talking about his show in the BBL, McGurk has scored just 55 runs in five innings, averaging just 11. His form has made DC sweat in panic as he was the likely opener for the Capitals for IPL 2025. Thus, this article will shed light on 3 players who can open with KL Rahul if JFM gets dropped.

1. Faf du Plessis

Luckily, the Capitals roped in ex-RCB captain Faf du PLessis on day 2 of the mega-auction for 2 crores and now Du Plessis looks like the front-runner to open with KL Rahul.

Further, Du Plessis has had a better run in T20 leagues than JFM after IPL 2024. Notably, Du Plessis scored 405 runs in 12 innings in CPL, where he averaged 36.82. Further, he extended his great run with the bat and amassed 257 runs in nine innings in the Abu Dhabi T10 league.

2. Harry Brook

The last time Brook featured in IPL it was for SRH, which was also his debut season. Brook hasn't opened for England in any format, but he did for SRH in his maiden season and also smashed a century.

Thus, Brook, who was earlier touted to headline DC's middle-order, can now take strike with KL Rahul at the top.

3. Abishek Porel

DC are full of players who can open the innings and Abishek Porel is another one. The Bengal-based cricketer is in the form of his life and he has shown promise after being retained by DC ahead of IPL 2025 mega-auction.

Notably, Porel averaged 65.33 in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, where he amassed 196 runs in four innings. Even in SMAT 2024, Porel was unstoppable and amassed 335 runs in nine innings, which included three fifty-plus scores.
