Delhi Capitals, in desperate search for their maiden IPL title, revamped their roster for the IPL 2025 season. A major inclusion was KL Rahul who will likely replace Rishabh Pant as captain for the upcoming season.
DC retained a significant set of core players at the retention deadline, including Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav. However, the release of Indian wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant raised eyebrows. Both parties failed to reach an agreement, leading to a fallout.
However, besides Pant, a couple more players who were rejected by Delhi could register an MVP-like season with their new teams in the IPL 2025 season.
3. Mitchell Marsh

After a relatively consistent performance with Delhi Capitals in recent seasons, Mitchell Marsh was bought by LSG for INR 3.40 crore in the IPL 2025 auction. Despite his undeniable talent, Marsh's IPL career has been hampered by injuries, limiting his appearances. Across 42 IPL games, he accumulated 666 runs with 37 wickets.
That being said, Marsh is a seasoned performer in T20 cricket, having featured in 187 T20 matches across various leagues. With 4425 runs at a strike rate of 132.92, including a century and 85 wickets with the ball, he brings a wealth of experience to any squad. Hence, LSG will see Marsh as a dark horse in iPL 2025.
2. Khaleel Ahmed

Khaleel Ahmed joined Delhi Capitals in IPL 2022, taking 16 wickets in 10 matches. Unfortunately, Khaleel's performances in the subsequent seasons were inconsistent. Across the 2023 and 2024 IPL seasons, he took 26 wickets in 23 matches, but his economy rate of 9.39 raised concerns.
Meanwhile, Ahmed will join CSK for the IPL 2025 season. Despite his recent form, his ability to swing the ball and take wickets with the new ball still made him a valuable asset. He can be a perfect replacement for Deepak Chahar in CSK and might as well be an MVP.
1. Rishabh Pant

Rishabh Pant being let go by DC for the IPL 2025 mega auction was shocking, but his sale price at the auction table wasn't. LSG went all in to cash out INR 27 crore for the wicket-keeper batter. Delhi Capitals, with the RTM card up their sleeve, couldn't equal the enormous sum that LSG shelled out for Pant to make him the most expensive player in IPL history. Pant will undoubtedly be a game-changer for LSG. Although his T20 International average sits at 23.25, with just three fifties from 76 matches, his overall T20 performance paints a far brighter picture.
Pant has featured in 202 games of T20 cricket with an average of 31.78, and a strike rate well over 145. He has been able to change the game around often, which also partly justifies what's being paid for his services. Besides being an explosive hitter and sharp wicket-keeper, Rishabh is also a promising leader. He led DC for several seasons and has enough experience under his belt to become an MVP for LSG in IPL 2025.
