In the ongoing BBL 2024-25 match between Sydney Thunder and Melbourne Renegades, the Men in Red suffered a eight-runs defeat as they failed to chase down 157. The Thunder, batting first, put 156/4 on the board.
Thunder skipper Warner returned to form as the southpaw played a 86-runs knock. Despite his heroics, the Thunder failed to put a respectable total on the board. However, Renegades too lost wickets on regular intervals. Meanwhile, Jake Fraser-McGurk ended the year on a negative note as he extended his slump with the bat.
McGurk left his natural style of play in the dressing room as he rotated the strike and was careful with his shots. Despite a change in style, he couldn't score big and returned to the pavilion after a score of 26 (27).
On the fifth ball of the 11th over, McGurk handed an easy catch to Chris Green, who made no mistake off his own bowling. Watch the video here.
A Year To Forget For McGurk
McGurk started 2024 on a positive note as he shone in the IPL and took the world by storm. It was his IPL performance that resulted in DC retaining the right-hand batter for IPL 2025 during the auction. However, other than IPL, McGurk struggled in all other tournaments, including the games he played for Australia.
The youngster is under the scanner as it is to be seen whether the Renegades will bench him for the next match or not.
