2024 was the year of T20Is. The ICC held the T20 World Cup 2024, and several new T20 leagues were inaugurated as well. Players across the globe participated in T20 leagues across nations, but now the wait is for IPL 2025 to begin. 

IPL is arguably the greatest T20 league in the world, and all eyes are on the upcoming edition of the cash-studded league. Meanwhile, this article will shed light on IPL 2024 award winners, who rose to fame, and how well did they in the rest of the year.

Virat Kohli - Poor

It has been a tough year for Virat Kohli since the completion of IPL 2024. He head for T20 World Cup 2024, but failed in the entire tournament except for the final in which he played a valuable knock of 76 (59). 

Post that series, things have further gone downhill for Virat as he failed vs Bangladesh, New Zealand and also Australia. At present, Kohli is facing the heat and there are cries of him being ousted from the Indian team. 

He has scored 655 runs in 32 innings in 2024 and has averaged just 21.83. 

Harshal Patel - Below Average

Harshal Patel shone in IPL 2024 after he took 24 wickets in 14 innings to win the purple cap. Since then, he has featured in three domestic tournaments- Ranji Trophy, Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, and ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Talking about Ranji Trophy, he took just seven wickets in five innings. Coming to Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Patel again had a below-par tournament and took just 11 wickets in seven innings. In the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy, Patel has just one wicket in two innings. 

Sunil Narine - Good

Talk about form, Sunil Narine, who won the Most Valuable player for IPL 2024, has had a great rest of the year. Notably, Narine scored 488 runs in 14 innings, and took 17 wickets. 

Since then, Narine featured in MLC 2024, Global T20 2024, CPL 2024, and Abu Dhabi T10 league. Talking about MLC, it was a below-par tournament and he took five-wickets in six innings. 

However, Narine turned things around after he featured in the Global T20 2024 and took 10 wickets in six innings. Then came CPL and Sunil only bettered his performance by taking 12 wickets in seven matches. 

Although, Narine had six wickets in seven innings, which was an average performance. 

Nitish Kumar Reddy - Excellent

Nitish Kumar Reddy had the best year out of all as he earned a India call-up following IPL heroics and suddenly became the batting sensation after a heroic century at the MCG in the ongoing BGT.

He was selected for the Zimbabwe tour but missed it because of injury. However, he made his debut against Bangladesh and scored a fifty-plus score in his second knock. 

Reddy then made his India debut in the first Test vs Australia and till now the two teams have played four matches and Reddy is second leading run-getter for India in the BGT 2024.
