After a poor show in the previous season of the Indian Premier League 2023, Delhi Capitals are expected to make a strong comeback as they welcome their original captain Rishabh Pant into the squad. 

Rishabh Pant missed the entire IPL 2023 season after a brutal accident and life-threatening injuries.

The DC captain is still recovering at a slow pace but will be back from remission for the 17th season of the tournament. Recently the Delhi Capitals team management revealed that Rishabh Pant will be back for the season.

Delhi recent announcement made it clear that Rishabh Pant has not fully recovered, but is ready to take the responsibility of captaincy for the team. DC made multiple noteworthy purchases during the IPL 2024 auction, including domestic as well as overseas players who can replace Pant as the wicket-keeper.

1. Tristan Stubbs

The young Proteas batter, Tristan Stubbs, was recently bought by Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024 after he was released by his former team Mumbai Indians. The 23-year-old South African wicket-keeper made his debut for the team and has had a good stumping record in First Class cricket with 15 catches and quick movements behind the wickets. 


2. Shai Hope

The experienced Barbadian wicket-keeper batter, Shai Hope, recently made his way in the Delhi Capitals squad and can be a good replacement for Rishabh Pant behind the wickets. Hope stands at 41 catches and 9 stumpings behind the wickets in T20 along with 10 catches and 1 stumping in T20Is.


3. Kumar Kushagra

The 19-year-old domestic cricketer Kumar Kushagra was one of the interesting picks by Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024 auction. The young wicket-keeper can be a strong contender to replace Rishabh Pant as the wicket-keeper for the team, considering his track record for Jharkhand in Vijay Hazare trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy.
