Months ahead of the mega IPL 2024 carnival, the auction process for the same commenced in Coca-Cola Arena, Dubai, earlier today. As teams took seats at their respective tables, the fans, for the very first time, got to witness the auction proceedings live inside the arena.

Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals welcomed a special guest. Captain Rishabh Pant, currently on a long injury layoff, joined the team at the auction table. Sourav Ganguly and others accompanied him as the bidding went on floors. 

Capitals initiated the auction proceedings by securing English youngster Harry Brook in a mega 4 Cr contract. Brook, who fetched over 10 Cr last season with the SRH, witnessed a dip in his market value. Nonetheless, given the young gun's talent and skill set, DC definitely acquired him in a steal deal. 

Next up, the team sealed South African wicketkeeper batter Tristan Stubbs at a base price of 50 lakhs. Later, the team ended up adding a couple of more wicket-keeping options in Ricky Bhui and Kumar Kushagra. While Bhui came at a low cost, Kushagra went for 7.20 crores owing to a tough battle with Gujarat Titans. 

In the bowling department, DC claimed uncapped pacer Rasikh Dar Salam at the base price. However, its most significant pick remained Australian speedster Jhye Richardson, for whom they had to cash out 5 crores. 

Having said that, DC managed to secure only a single all-rounder in Sumit Kumar. While KKR posed a threat, the Capitals came through to land Kumar at 1 crore.

In the final round, DC tried hard to land Rilee Rossouw, but Punjab went too steep, and Capitals had to back out due to a funds shortage. Nonetheless, Delhi ended up signing Shai Hope and Swastik Chikara in the final hour of the auction.
