'IND Without Kohli And England Still Struggling…'- Ganguly's Critical Remark On Bazball

England's self-employed no-holds-barred 'BazBall' approach in Test cricket first came to the fore-back in mid-2022, when Ben Stokes took over team captaincy from Joe Root.

Meanwhile, England's aggressive run-scoring tactic has yielded them much success with numerous Test wins at home and a series triumph in Pakistan, Stokes, and co. failed to conquer the 2023 home Ashes against Australia and also squandered an opportunity to claim a rare series win in New Zealand.

Moreover, England's 'BazBall' strategy, which involves an aggressive yet calculated run-scoring assault on opposition bowlers, has once again become a topic of much cricketing debate after they slumped to successive hammerings against India at Vizag and Rajkot.

Former Indian captain and ex-BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has questioned the credibility of England's relentless approach and has claimed that the visitors will find it difficult to win in Indian conditions even though Team India is playing without the services of senior members Virat Kohli and KL Rahul.

Sourav Ganguly questions England’s ‘BazBall’

Former Indian captain and all-time great Sourav Ganguly believes England will find it difficult to make a comeback in their series against India if they continue to employ the same aggressive batting tactic.

The cricketer-turned-administrator pointed out that Team India is playing without Virat Kohli and KL Rahul at this stage, and their youngsters alone have been able to counter England's 'BazBall' threat. While speaking with Mid Day, Sourav Ganguly said:

“Bazball is good, but it’s difficult for England to be successful in Indian conditions. I will be surprised if India lose the series. Please remember that India are playing without Virat [Kohli], KL [Rahul]. It’s a young team with many new faces, and yet, England are struggling.”

Remarkably, England started off the Indian tour with an emphatic 28-run win at Hyderabad off the back of Ollie Pope's 196-run blitzkrieg.

However, Jasprit Bumrah led India's fightback at Vizag to bring the five-match series to levelling terms. Team India also trounced the visiting Englishmen by a record margin of 434 runs in Rajkot to go 2-1 up in the series.

The two Test titans will now collide in match number four between February 23 and February 27 at Ranchi's JSCA International Complex Stadium.
