India and England are currently locking horns for the third test match of England’s tour of India at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot. During the third Test match, the Indian cricket team will be seen wearing black bands on their arms as a respect to the late Indian team captain Late Dattajirao Gaekwad, who recently passed away on January 13th, Tuesday.

Dattajirao Gaekwad was the oldest Indian test cricketer alive, as he passed away at the age of 95. Gaekwad represented the Indian cricket team in 11th test matches and led the squad for India’s tour of England in 1959. Under his insightful guidance, Baroda lifted the Ranji trophy cup in 1957-58 after defeating Services in the final match.

On Saturday morning, the BCCI officially released the statement to honour the late former captain. The board declared the news exclusively on the official social media handle and wrote, “#TeamIndia will be wearing black armbands in memory of Dattajirao Gaekwad, former India captain and India’s oldest Test cricketer who passed away recently. #INDvENG | @IDFCFIRSTBank”

Team India’s triumphs in the 3rd Test against England

The Indian cricket team showcased exceptional cricket skills throughout the third test match. The off spinner Ravichandran Ashwin registered a rare milestone as he became the second fastest cricketer, and fastest Indian cricketer to mark 500 test wickets while beating the former record holder Anil Kumble. However, due to an unknown family emergency, Ashwin had to pull out of the match after two days of the game.

Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja both scored a century in the first innings to lead India to a total of 445 and took five wickets in the game to send half the squad back to the pavilion. English opening batsman Ben Duckett played a magnificent knock of 153 runs off 151 deliveries as he was dismissed by the young Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav.
