The second season of the Women's Premier League (WPL) is set to kick off on Friday, with the season opener scheduled between defending champions Mumbai Indians and runners-up Delhi Capitals at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru from 7.30 PM onwards.

Delhi Capitals will set out for redemption this year after losing the maiden title race to Harmanpreet Kaur-led Mumbai Indians' side last year. The challenge to outclass the defending champion is steep. But DC will bank on its squad balance.

That being said, DC was mostly inactive this auction season. They bought Annabel Sutherland for a whopping INR 2 Crores salary. The rest of the available purse amount was spent on emerging uncapped players, Aparna Mondal and Ashwani Kumari.

That being said, DC's squad for the 2024 WPL season is largely unchanged, as the franchise owners chose not to mess with the winning combination. Meg Lanning will continue to lead her side with Jemimah Rodriguez appointed as her deputy.

Shafali Verman remains DC's biggest strength with the bat. The newest recruit, Anna Sutherland, will bat in the deep to add some extra runs in the death.

Poonam Yadav and Radha Yadav have immense experience to guide Delhi Capitals to another successful run this year. Young gun Titas Sadhu could be an underdog. She showed elite skills for India on debut and is an excellent pace option.

Overall, Delhi Capitals' probable XI against Mumbai Indians presents a well-balanced and formidable lineup, with a mix of experience, talent, and firepower in both batting and bowling departments.

With a strong leadership core led by Meg Lanning and a talented pool of players at their disposal, DC will be aiming to start their WPL campaign on a winning note and lay down a marker for the rest of the tournament.
