IPL 2025: 3 Reasons Why KL Rahul Will Be A Perfect Fit For RCB
KL Rahul in action for RCB [X]
There is time left for the IPL 2025 to commence, but the buzz has already started about the potential transfers taking place. One big name, rumoured to leave his franchise ahead of the next season is Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain, KL Rahul.
For three seasons, KL Rahul has been the skipper of the LSG team, and while they reached the playoffs in the first two seasons, the last campaign was a disaster for the side, as they failed to make it past the league stage.
After LSG suffered a heavy defeat in one of the IPL 2024 matches, team owner, Sanjiv Goenka was seen in an animated chat with KL Rahul, fuelling a troubled relation between the captain and the owner. As a result, speculations began that LSG could release the captain ahead of IPL 2025 mega auction.
There are rumours that KL Rahul could be heading back to his former IPL side, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Hence, we look at 3 reasons, why KL Rahul will be a perfect fit for the Bengaluru based side.
RCB need a captain/keeper for IPL 2025
With RCB captain, Faf du Plessis ageing, the team management might look to release him ahead of the mega auction. Faf has been a brilliant servant for the Red Army, but RCB might be tempted to look elsewhere for the leadership role, and KL Rahul fits in the bill.
He has captained Punjab Kings, he has led LSG for three seasons, and hence, RCB might be tempted to bring him back as a captain. Moreover, with Dinesh Karthik taking IPL retirement, the team doesn't have a designated keeper. Hence, by bringing in KL Rahul, RCB could potentially solve their two issues.
Return to his home ground, Chinnaswamy
Born in Bengaluru, KL Rahul has played the majority of his cricket for Karnataka, and has also played for RCB in two different stints (2013, 2016-17). When he played for RCB previously, KL Rahul was a young player, but fast forward to 2024, he is one of the best T20 batters going around and the fans would love to bring back the hometown hero back to where he belongs.
KL Rahul knows Chinnaswamy Stadium at the back of his hands and would be a great asset for the franchise.
An excellent bond with RCB megastar, Virat Kohli
Virat Kohli is known as the epitome of loyalty. He was bought by RCB in 2008, and since then, he has played for the same franchise in IPL, and has never thought of leaving the side despite difficult challenges.
KL Rahul shares a great rapport with Kohli. The duo have played together for India and RCB, and it was under the leadership of King Kohli that KL made his RCB and India debut.
The two share an excellent relation and this could be a major factor in taking RCB forward and potentially towards their maiden IPL title.
