KL Rahul who recently lost his T20 World Cup spot could now also potentially lose his Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captaincy, as per reports. The Nawabs of Lucknow, who are most likely out of the IPL playoffs scenario, could possibly sack their captain for the remaining two games.

This report emerges after a viral video is doing rounds on social media, showcasing Sanjiv Goenka, the owner of LSG, having an animated discussion with KL Rahul post their defeat to SRH by 10 wickets with 62 balls to spare.

It has also been understood that the team is likely to not retain KL Rahul ahead of IPL 2025 mega auctions thus ending his three-year long stint with the Lucknow franchise. However, there are a couple of rumors suggesting that KL is likely to step down from the captaincy with the supposed reason to focus more towards his batting. If this happens, then Nicholas Pooran, LSG's vice-captain will likely take over the leadership role for the remaining games.

"There is a five-day gap before the next game against DC. As of now, no decision has been taken but it is understood that if Rahul plans to just concentrate on his batting for the remaining two games, the management won't mind," told PTI.

Talking about their most recent outing against Pat Cummins’ led SRH, LSG faced a humiliating loss. Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma single-handedly stitched up a 167-run partnership thereby chasing the total of 165 runs in less than 10 overs.

In the same game, KL Rahul struggled to get going as he managed to score 29 runs off 33 balls. While KL Rahul has amassed a total of 460 runs from 11 games so far, it is his strike rate that has caught the eye and that could be the potential reason for his demotion.
