Dinesh Karthik has been one of the most successful Indian wicketkeeper batters in the history of the Indian Premier League, and finally after playing 17 long seasons, the man from Tamil Nadu has decided to retire from IPL.

RCB's loss to Rajasthan Royals will go down as his final game in the IPL and the wicketkeeper batter was aptly given a emotional guard of honour by his RCB mates as he walked off the field with crowd chanting 'DK, DK' at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

Dinesh Karthik played 257 matches in IPL, having made his debut for Delhi Daredevils in the inaugural season of the IPL. He represented six teams in IPL and even led Kolkata Knight Riders to playoffs in IPL 2018. The right-handed batter scored 4842 runs with an average of 26.32 and a strike rate of 135.36.

In the later half of his career, he donned the finisher’s hat quite successfully and played a big role in RCB’s success in the 2024 and 2022 season. However, he could not finish on a high and could score only 11 in his final game as RCB crashed out of IPL 2024 following a four-wicket loss against Rajasthan Royals.
