After thrashing Scotland 3-0 in the T20I series, a confident Australian unit will look to take down home favourites, England in another 3-match T20I series. This Australian side lacks experience, but make up for it with their power-packed batting lineup.

The match will take place at Rose Bowl, Southampton, the pitch at this venue could very well decide the fate of the first T20I. England, last played a T20I game during the World Cup in June, and since then, have only played red-ball cricket.

The captain of the white-ball team, Jos Buttler was ruled out of the series due to an injury, and Phil Salt has been given the responsibility to lead the team.

Matthew Mott, who was their white-ball coach, stepped down from the post after England's exit in the semi-finale of the T20 World Cup, and while Brendon McCullum has been appointed as the new coach, he would only be available to take the responsibility from January 2025. Hence, with lots of chopping and changes, England start as second favourites in the series.

On that note, let us look at the Rose Bowl surface, which could decide the winner of the first T20I.

ENG Vs AUS, Rose Bowl Pitch Report: Flat track, but with a hint of spin

England will play to their strengths and will produce a flat-track at the Rose Bowl Stadium, Southampton for the first T20I. With power-packed batters like Phil Salt and Will Jacks in their squad, the home team will look to maximise their quality.

Expect plenty of runs, especially with both the teams bolstering explosive-hitters, however, there is one catch here. In England, this is a late summer period, and generally international games doesn't take place at this time. Hence, there could be a hint of spin, which benefits the likes of Adil Rashid and Adam Zampa, who are great exponents of spin bowling.

Toss winning captain will look to bowl first, considering the surface has not been used much since The Hundred 2024 ended, and batting second might provide a better chance to understand the nature of the pitch.
