As India were already on top of the WTC 2023-25 points table, their commendable win in the Chennai Test further strengthened their case for another entry into the competition's final.

Overall, India have secured seven victories, losing only two Tests in this cycle. Their incredible performance in Chennai increased their PCT (percentage of points) to a remarkable 71.67, helping them solidify their position at the top.

However, with nine Tests still left, India must sustain their dream run and stay ahead of their competitors to ensure a third consecutive WTC final appearance. So, the New Zealand and Australia series hold significant importance for Rohit Sharma and co, as these two teams, currently placed second and third, can dethrone them.

Bangladesh Fall To Number Six In WTC Standings

Meanwhile, Bangladesh's abysmal performance in the Chennai Test adversely affected their WTC run. After a 280-run defeat at Chepauk, the Tigers moved down to number six in the points table. Sri Lanka, who recently recorded a memorable win at The Oval, replaced them at four, with England claiming the fifth position with a PCT of 42.19.
