Experienced wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant failed to execute a simple stumping, giving veteran all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan a lifeline on day four of the Chennai Test between India and Bangladesh. Pant, who is regarded as one of the most efficient keepers, committed the blunder at a crucial juncture of the game.

The incident occurred during the 47th over of Bangladesh's second innings when Shakib was steadily moving the visitors' scoreboard alongside skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto. In a bid to break the valiant stand, Indian captain Rohit Sharma brought Ravindra Jadeja back into the attack.

Although Jadeja had a poor start to the over, conceding six runs off his first four deliveries, he eventually succeeded in deceiving Shakib with his guile. The talismanic all-rounder bowled a full-length delivery outside the off stump, with the ball beating Shakib on the outside edge.

As the southpaw charged down the track to drive it through the covers, the ball went past the outside edge of his bat to Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant. As Shakib was way outside his crease, Pant had enough time to get him stumped.

Unfortunately for the hosts, the experienced wicketkeeper failed to collect the ball cleanly behind the stumps, as Shakib made his ground comfortably, avoiding his dismissal.

India Thrash Bangladesh In Chennai Test

Riding on Ravichandran Ashwin's clinical six-wicket haul, India bowled Bangladesh out for 234 runs in their second innings, securing an emphatic 280-run victory in the Chennai Test. Chasing a whopping 515-run target, the Tigers had a positive start to their innings, courtesy of the cameos from Zakir Hasan and Shadman Islam.

However, Ashwin triggered their batting collapse, scalping the crucial wickets of Shadman, Mominul and Mushfiqur. The legendary off-spinner eventually bagged his 37th Test fifer, equalling Shane Warne in the phenomenal bowling feat.
