In a remarkable achievement, Ravichandran Ashwin equalled the legendary Shane Warne in a phenomenal bowling feat following his clinical five-wicket haul against Bangladesh in Chennai. The talismanic off-spinner dismantled Bangladesh with his magnificent spell, registering an equal number of fifers as Warne in Test cricket. 

The experienced cricketer, who brought India back into the game with a flamboyant century, began his onslaught on the visitors with Shadman Islam's wicket. After castling Mominul Haque with a ripper, Ashwin went on to get the prized scalps of Mushfiqur Rahim, Shakib Al Hasan and Mehidy Hasan Miraz, completing a memorable fifer in this process. This was Ashwin's 37th fifer in Tests, as he joined Shane Warne at number two in the elite list.

When the fourth day started, Bangladesh were expected to capitalise on their start and put up a fight against India's rampant bowling attack. However, Ravichandran Ashwin swung the game in the hosts' favour, striking with the ball at regular intervals. 

After dismissing Shakib, the craftsman weaved his magic with the red cherry, jolting the visitors with key wickets of Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Taskin Ahmed. His stellar bowling effort helped India claim the driving seat, pushing Bangladesh to the verge of a crushing defeat.
