With 27 crore splashed on Rishabh Pant and a host of hard-hitting batters, the Lucknow Super Giants were expected to have a stellar Indian Premier League season. However, that was not the case as the team failed to deliver the goods and eventually crashed out of the playoff race.

The team had several issues leading up to their performance. The dismal form of Rishabh Pant, pace bowlers not delivering when it mattered and many more. However, in a season which was not there's for the taking, the LSG side also had 3 positives and here's what they are.

1) Marsh-Markram opening combo

Heading into the season, there was some doubt on LSG's new opening pair of Aiden Markram and Mitch Marsh. The duo never lit the IPL on fire and it was a gamble to open with them. However, they silenced the critics and were LSG's biggest shining light.

Not only did they score truckloads of runs, but they did that with an excellent strike-rates as LSG found a ray of hope.

Throughout the campaign he has played some key finishing role and LSG have found their perfect long-term finishing option.
