In a breathtaking match in the IPL 2024 season at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, the Gujarat Titans (GT) emerged victorious by a narrow margin of 6 runs against Mumbai Indians (MI).

Hardik Pandya reflects on MI's defeat Vs GT

Reflecting on the intense encounter, Pandya expressed:

"Obviously, we backed ourselves to chase those 168 runs. But it was one of those days where if we saw the score is less in the last five overs, we lost the momentum. It feels good to be back because this is one stadium where you can enjoy the atmosphere. The crowd was full, and they got a good game."

"(On Tilak not taking singles) I think Tilak felt it was the right decision to not give strike to David, and I completely back him." This decision highlighted the tactical intricacies of the game.

The turning point of the match came when GT's bowlers staged a remarkable comeback, clinching 6 crucial wickets in the last four overs. Despite a promising partnership between Rohit Sharma and Dewald Brevis, MI fell short by 6 runs.

GT's Sai Sudharsan was awarded the "Player of the Match" for his blistering knock of 45 runs, which proved to be instrumental in GT's victory.

This defeat marked MI's seventh consecutive loss in their first match of the IPL campaign, a concerning trend for the team. Additionally, Pandya faced a hostile reception from the crowd in Ahmedabad, as he was "brutally booed" upon his return as MI captain against GT.

Looking ahead, MI gears up to face Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on March 27 at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Both teams are eager to secure their first win of the campaign, setting the stage for another thrilling encounter in the IPL 2024 season.
