AB de Villiers recently acknowledged the never-ending fan debate involving himself and former Indian captain MS Dhoni. The ex-cricketer, known for mauling the best of bowling attacks during his playing days, recently claimed that Dhoni is the best finisher in the world.
AB de Villiers ends never-ending debate in his own way
For far too long, fans and cricket experts have engaged in extensive debates to determine the better finisher between two former captains, AB de Villiers and MS Dhoni.
Countering the beliefs of those who held AB de Villiers the superior of the two, the legendary South African himself hailed Dhoni as the best finisher ever in the history of the game. The RCB star cited the latter’s performance at the 2011 World Cup final, and stated that the memory of his straight six to win the tournament will forever remain engraved in his mind.
Taking to his YouTube channel, the former Proteas’ batter wrote:
“I see always a big debate going on between who is the best finisher between me & Dhoni, we can settle it now. I will say MS Dhoni is the best finisher ever. The things he has pulled off in the past… I think of that 2011 World Cup - hitting that straight six to win the World Cup. That will be engraved in my mind forever. MS has done it so many times in all.”

While AB de Villiers announced his retirement from international cricket in 2018, the Indian wicketkeeper-batsman played his last international match a year later in England during the 2019 World Cup.
MS Dhoni, however, continues to grace his fans at the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) franchise.
