Pakistan failed to prevent Sri Lanka overhauling their 252-run target at Colombo in the virtual semi-final this Asia Cup 2023. The result enabled Sri Lanka to qualify for the final with India, while Babar Azam’s troops crashed out of the race and eventually finished at the bottom of the Super Four points table.

After their recent loss to Sri Lanka, Pakistan speedster Zaman Khan and captain Babar himself were visibly seen holding back their tears, while the latter of the two even found it difficult to speak as per his father.

Babar Azam’s father Azam Siddique made the startling claim on his Instagram account the following day of team’s semi-final defeat, and also penned an extensive note on a separate post for his son as well as for his fans.

Azam Siddique urges Babar Azam's fans to block haters

Babar Azam’s father Azam Siddique took to Instagram and launched a scathing attack on unwanted criticism aimed towards his son. He urged the fans of the cricketer to block the critics and ignore their personal rants on social media. Siddique wrote:

“Let the one who is jealous burn himself in the fire of his jealousy. How can that candle be extinguished which God lights. Hello Pakistan. You may have seen this picture a thousand times. Perhaps Babar did not stand with me like this again. Suffering from Pneumonia and was bedridden for two years. This is a picture of Father's Day. He gave me this safari suit and I didn't have the strength to stand. So he helped me to make this picture.”

“Babar has the prayers of his parents and the prayers of all those who love him in the world, and first of all, the blessings of Allah and the Prophet are with those who are jealous. There is a self-fire in which jealousy burns, God willing, the game will start again with determination and strength of faith. It is necessary to join in the prayers of all of you. A speech by the people. I like Babar Army, people of Pakistan and Pakistan Zindabad (Note) Give the best reply to those who write rubbish things that will be blocked.”

Prior to his brutal attack towards Babar Azam’s critics, Azam Siddique also praised the Pakistan team for their undying spirit against Sri Lanka, considering the ‘Men in Green’ played without several of their frontline bowlers. He praised young pacer Zaman Khan for bowling well under pressure, and even described Sri Lanka’s final-over win a fluke.

Siddique further claimed that Pakistan will be a different unit to behold once all their players are fit and ready in time for the ODI World Cup 2023 in India next month.
