The Asia Cup 2023 kicked off with great anticipation, led by Rohit Sharma at the helm of the Indian team. They began with a string of victories, but Bangladesh halted their progress just before the final showdown.

In this particular match, India's batting seemed vulnerable. However, after witnessing Shubman Gill's outstanding performance, it appeared he had the potential to carry the team to victory all by himself. However, at a crucial juncture in the match, the young batter faltered, disappointing the team.

Despite Gill's remarkable century, former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh had some critical remarks about his performance.

After his century against Bangladesh and a message of determination to Sri Lanka, Shubman Gill shared a photo on Instagram with the caption, "Today's performance wasn't enough, but we are all geared up for the final."

In the comments section of Gill's post, Yuvraj wrote, "A below-average shot that resulted in getting out; he had the potential to win the game on his own, but he played well." Shubman Gill has emerged as the leading run-scorer in 2023, having notched up 6 international centuries this year. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli has managed 5 centuries thus far. The young batsman outshone Virat Kohli by scoring a century against Bangladesh.

Shubman Gill has delivered exceptional performances in 2023, earning recognition for his batting skills on the global stage. Even in 2023, established stars like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have found it challenging to match his ability to accumulate runs.

While India faced adversity against Bangladesh, Gill showed resilience at the crease, scoring 121 runs and coming tantalizingly close to leading the team to victory. As India's chances of winning improved, Gill adopted an aggressive approach. However, during this phase, he played a subpar shot and got caught, inviting Yuvraj Singh's criticism.
