Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant is excited to make his much-awaited comeback in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2014. It will be his first appearance in professional cricket since being sidelined due to a road accident in December 2022.

However, the wicketkeeper batter will have his task cut out on return to the leadership role and is ready to take complete responsibility for his side. Pant said that he is ready to make the most of the season with the resources available, hinting that he will explore different strategies in the absence of players like Harry Brook.

For those unaware, the young England batter had pulled out of the IPL 2024 citing personal reasons. He later confirmed in an Instagram post that he decided after the death of his grandmother, who was his "rock" and always stood by his side.

“I’m very pleased with the squad because, in the mini auction, you can’t do much about it. Whatever goal you have, you have to figure out a way to make it work in a better way. That’s the only thing you can do with limited options. And I think some of the options we had in the middle order were amazing,“ said Rishabh during a chat with Club Praire Fire.

Brook was bought for INR 4 crore in the IPL 2024 mini-auction. In his absence, Delhi Capitals are likely to rely on their experienced Australian veteran, David Warner, in the top order.

“But there might be some bad news that we are just trying to confirm whether it’s true or false, communicating with the players. I feel some players might not come, that could be a setback, but setbacks are part of life. Then we will move on and explore new strategies. But I’m really excited to be back.” Pant added.

Delhi Capitals, deprived of Pant, finished in the ninth spot in the IPL 2023. They will begin their campaign in the upcoming season on March 23 against Punjab Kings.
