Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have fuelled their name change speculations ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. There have been speculations and demand from the fans to switch to Bengaluru from Bangalore in their original name and it seemed to be addressed by the franchise through a recent video. 

In a video posted by RCB, featuring Sandalwood actor Rishabh Shetty, three horses can be seen alongside him. Each of these horses can be seen carrying the 'Royal',  'Challengers' and 'Bangalore' carpet to complete the team name. However, the actor pats at the horse carrying the 'Bangalore' logo, indicating to remove it. 

The franchise further captioned the video as, 

"Understood what Rishabh Shetty is trying to say? You’ll find out at RCB Unbox. Buy your tickets now."

"Arthavagalilla. Rooting it to be named as Royal Challengers Bengaluru though," a fan replied.

"This brings lot of emotions to our team. Nam culture , nam ooru hesru hage nam bhashe jasti upayogisi aste. Devru nimge olledu madtane. Bengaluru," another fan said. 

Incidentally, each franchise in other sports which represents the city have Bengaluru etched in their names, including Bengaluru Bulls in Pro Kabaddi League and Bengaluru FC in the Indian Super League. 

RCB, meanwhile, eye their maiden title in the IPL 2024 with their campaign set to get underway on March 22. They will face-off defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on the inaugural day of the lucrative tournament.
