In a massive development, the BCCI medical team has declared Rishabh Pant fit for the upcoming Indian Premier League season. Thus, he is ready to play as a keeper-batter for Delhi Capitals in the lucrative tournament. On the contrary, fast bowlers Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Shami are yet to regain fitness and are, therefore, ruled out of the tournament.

While travelling from Delhi to Roorkee, Pant survived a nearly-fatal car crash, sustaining multiple injuries.

He took a significant period to recover from the injuries, being ruled out of India’s multiple international assignments. However, the swashbuckling keeper-batter has regained match fitness and is ready to keep wickets for his franchise in the IPL.

On the contrary, Prasidh Krishna underwent a left proximal quadriceps tendon surgery last month and has, therefore, been ruled out of the IPL 2024.

On a similar note, ace Indian speedster Mohammed Shami recently underwent a right heel surgery, keeping him out of action after the 2023 World Cup.

While Pant’s presence boosts the Capitals significantly, the absence of Shami and Krishna emerges as a headache for Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals, respectively.

The Capitals will begin their IPL 2024 campaign against Punjab Kings, Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals will face Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants in their respective opening fixtures.
