Ex-India opener, Aakash Chopra sang praises of captain Rohit Sharma for his brilliant show with the bat following India's thumping 68-run win over the defending champions of the T20 World Cup in Guyana.

After being put in to bat first on a tough surface by England in a rain-affected game, Rohit Sharma gave India a blistering start at the top, scoring 57(39) which helped India to post an over-par total of 171 runs at the end of first innings. Suryakumar Yadav and the three all-rounders chipped in with important cameos as well.

Talking about the game on his YouTube channel, Chopra praised Rohit's positive approach throughout the tournament while pointing out his fifties.

"The first match against Ireland, he scored a fifty. Then the last match against Australia, he scored 92 runs. If he hadn't scored those many runs, we couldn't have beaten Australia and would've had to face them in the final. Here he sent England home," he said.

On Rohit's batting helping India score an over-par score,

"I felt if the Indian team reached 130-140, they would win, and if they reached 155, it would be 15-20 runs extra, and India reached 171. Then they defeated the opposing team by a huge margin. Rohit Sharma started it."

"The way he batted, aerial firing or cricketing shots, it's certain that until Rohit is there, run-scoring progresses fast and the opposing team becomes defensive. He walked the talk. He was my player of the match," he concluded.

Indian skipper is currently India's highest and overall third-highest run-getter in the tournament with 248 runs in 7 innings, behind Rahmanullah Gurbaz's 281 and Travis Head's 255.
