Virat Kohli, the Indian star, has not been at his best with the bat recently in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Except for a sensational 100 at Perth, Kohli has been mostly quiet with the bat. However, his teammate and India captain, Rohit Sharma, has backed him despite his slump.

Ahead of the crucial Boxing Day Test in Melbourne, India captain Rohit Sharma addressed the media with his trademark playful attitude. He addressed the media about Kohli's concerns but kept them puzzled with India's batting lineup for the Test.

Rohit Roots For Kohli's Comeback

Virat Kohli's struggles against deliveries outside the off-stump have been a pain for both the fans and the player in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Kohli has fallen prey to Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood, who have consistently targeted this weakness.

So far, Kohli has gathered an underwhelming score under his belt of 5, 100 not out, 7, 11, and 3. Despite Kohli's slump, Rohit backed him and emphasized that he will bounce back.

"You only said he is a modern-day great. Modern-day greats will figure out their way of the path (to overcome issues)," said Rohit.

Speaking of form, it is worth mentioning that  Rohit has also not been great in the series with his cores of 6,3 and 10 since he joined the Indian side from the Adelaide Test.

Rohit Stays Tight-Lipped On Batting Position For 4th Test

As Rohit has been batting at number 6 with a shift from his usual batting position as an opener, the media was curious to know whether he would keep batting at the same position. However, the skipper remained tight-lipped about the lineup for the upcoming Test. After confirming his participation in the 4th Test after an injury scare, Rohit emphasised the importance of flexibility and team strategy.

"Let's not worry about that. I think 'who bats where?' is something that we need to figure out within ourselves. It's not something I should be discussing at every press conference. Whatever it takes for our team to look good or give the best chance to succeed, we will do that," Rohit said.

Meanwhile, back in the Australian camp, Travis Head is doubtful for the 4th Test because of a quad strain that he suffered in the Gabba test. Notably, Sam Konstas is set to debut in MCG as coach McDonald, as confirmed in a recent press meeting. With Australia set with their young guns and the series levelled 1-1, the upcoming clash on December 26 at MCG promises to be an exciting affair.
