In a significant development, Indian captain Rohit Sharma has confirmed that he is fit and all set to play the upcoming fourth Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test match against Australia at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground. The skipper's confirmation is a massive relief for the Indian fans, who were concerned after the batter received a nasty blow to his knee during a practice session. 

Rohit Sharma Confirms Availability For Boxing Day Test

Since the Indian team has touched down in Melbourne, the practice pitches at the MCG have become a hot topic for discussion. The venue's curator Matt Page revealed that it's a standard procedure to offer fresh practice pitches only three days prior to the game, and, as India had several practice sessions much before, they had to use the worn-out surfaces that offered little assistance to the fast bowlers. 

However, as those were used pitches, the ball bounced awkwardly at times. As a result, several Indian batters, including skipper Rohit Sharma, received serious blows while fine-tuning their game in the nets. Nevertheless, during the pre-match press conference, Rohit stated that he had recovered from it, and he would represent the visitors in the upcoming clash. 

Rohit Sharma's Form In Border-Gavaskar Trophy

Indian captain Rohit Sharma has been a pale shadow of himself in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The talismanic Mumbaikar has found it tough to get going against Australia's rampant pace battery on challenging decks, managing only 19 runs across three innings at a horrendous average of 6.33. So, considering he has let his team and fans down, the veteran batter must be keen to put up an impactful performance and regain his mojo in the Melbourne Test.
