The Australian prodigy Sam Konstas is all set for his debut in the upcoming MCG Test against India, as confirmed by coach Andrew McDonald on Tuesday. The Border-Gavaskar Trophy is all set for a potential series leader. However, Australia's pillar Travis Head's inclusion is still doubtful.
Travis Head experienced an injury during the Gabba Test and has since undergone a series of medical evaluations. While there is a sense of relief from the Indian camp, there have not yet been any encouraging updates concerning his recovery.
Travis Head Doubtful For 4th Test?
Travis Head, who has been in blistering form since the last two matches, racking up two tons consecutively, picked up a quad strain during the Gabba Test. The severity of the strain is currently unknown, but several tests will be conducted to assess his fitness and the extent of his injury.
In a recent press conference before the Test, coach Andrew McDonald expressed confidence in Head's recovery. It is worth mentioning that Head was seen practising in the nets Tuesday, where he received a few throw-downs.
Sam Konstas Set To Shine
Meanwhile, Sam Konstas, who impressed earlier with his performance for Australia's PM's XI in the practice match against India, will be donning the Baggy Green on December 26.
"He's been very similar to what I've seen on the outside; he's composed, relaxed. He'll play Boxing Day, so I'll get that one out of the way," McDonald confirmed in the press meet.
Konstas recently showcased his talent by scoring a century against a strong Indian attack in a practice match. He amassed 107 runs from 97 balls, facing a formidable bowling lineup that included Akash Deep, Mohammed Siraj, and Ravindra Jadeja. Notably, Konstas previously demonstrated his class at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, scoring an unbeaten 73 for Australia A against India A.
With the series tied at 1-1, an exciting clash is set for December 26 at the MCG. All eyes will be on the 'Toughest Rivals' as Pat Cummins' and Rohit Sharma's teams compete for the lead in this five-match series.
