Virat Kohli, one of the most celebrated cricketers, finds himself in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons lately. On the field, his recent form has raised eyebrows, and off the field, he’s facing legal challenges. The Bengaluru civic body, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), has issued a notice to Virat Kohli’s co-owned pub, One8 Commune, for allegedly violating fire safety regulations.

The pub, located on the sixth floor of Ratnam’s Complex on MG Road near the iconic Chinnaswamy Stadium, reportedly operates without a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Fire Department. Social activists H.M. Venkatesh and Kunigal Narasimhamurthy lodged complaints, prompting BBMP to act. Despite a prior notice issued on November 29, the owners have not responded, leading BBMP to issue another warning with a seven-day deadline. If no clarification is provided, legal action will follow.

Venkatesh pointed out that many restaurants and pubs in Bengaluru high-rises lack proper fire safety measures, which have caused tragic incidents in the past.

Kohli’s On-Field Struggles Down Under

Talking about Kohli on cricketing front, the right-handed batter's performance in the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy has been underwhelming. Though he started the series on high note with a century in the Perth Test, his form has since dipped.

In the Brisbane Test, rain disrupted play, but Kohli’s struggles continued as he was dismissed for just three runs, edging a Josh Hazlewood delivery. The pattern of falling to deliveries outside the off-stump has reignited comparisons to his struggles in England a decade ago.

Virat Kohli Gears Up for Melbourne Test

Kohli has now traveled to Melbourne, where he hopes to turn things around at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). He has fond memories of the venue, having delivered a spectacular performance there in 2014. A win in Melbourne would not only boost Kohli’s confidence but also put India 2-1 up in the series, bringing them closer to a spot in the World Test Championship 2025 final.
