'Rishabh Pant Over Samson At 3; India To Open With Kohli, Rohit Sharma,' Believes Chopra

Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra asserted that Rishabh Pant has surpassed Sanju Samson, especially after the former's rapid fifty against Bangladesh in the warm-up match.

Sanju Samson, on the other hand, managed just 1 run from six balls before being dismissed by Shoriful Islam

India batted first and set a total of 182-5 in 20 overs. Rishabh Pant's innings of 53* runs off 32 balls proved to be important for India, with contributions from Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya also proving crucial.

In response, Bangladesh never managed to gain a foothold in the match. Arshdeep Singh's early strikes, claiming two quick wickets, dashed Bangladesh's hopes of recovery.

Bangladesh finished their innings at 122-9, resulting in India securing a comfortable victory by a margin of 60 runs.

After the game Aakash Chopra reviewed the game and in the video he explains why he thinks Rishabh Pant is the frontrunner to be the India's first choice keeper.

"They made Sanju (Samson) open and (Rishabh) Pant was sent at No. 3. There is a simple takeaway from that they got a straight shoot-out done, that both are given opportunities and whoever scores runs will be given a place in the XI because it seemed like neither of them had a certain place, although Rishabh Pant was the frontrunner. It seems like Rishabh Pant is not just a frontrunner now," Aakash Chopra said.

It appears that Sanju Samson might have to wait for his debut for India in the T20 World Cup. With Shivam Dube delivering decent bowling performances, it becomes challenging for Samson to compete solely as a batsman.

India's initial match is set for June 6th against Ireland.
